Runway Review: Opening Ceremony Spring 2014

Alexander Wang's show happened yesterday and while the clothes were awesome, it wasn't much of a show. I thought I'd have to wait for a proper fashion SHOW until the last day of NYFW when Marc Jacobs (my ultimate favorite) is showing, but Humberto Leon and Carol Lim beat him to the punch with a real stunner.

To put it succinctly, Opening Ceremony's runway debut was a smash success. The biggest (literally) show of the week was held in a space that resembled a gigantic car park. BMWs and Porsches presented the backdrop for the pieces all the cool kids will be wearing next spring.

The front row was packed with A-list stars such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Rashida Jones and Baz Luhrmann (to name a few) which only proved that Leon and Lim are adored by street style kids and celebrities alike.

Opening Ceremony is a label perfect for sporty cool girls. Just check out the printed parkas with origami like folding (athletic couture) and the sleek jumpsuits (Rihanna could SO rock both).

Recurring motifs were dresses, tops and jumpsuits with crossed straps across the chest. Some of the other cool pieces included over-oversized leather T-shirts and architecturally and texturally advanced leather jackets (bound to fly off the shelves).

Opening Ceremony's runway debut was and, more importantly, will be the place to be for fashion weeks to come.
