Zara Women Fall 2013

When you don't have the cash for high end fashion by the likes of Stella McCartney or Proenza Schouler you head to Zara to get your fix at reasonable prices and great design.

For their latest fall collection it's all about the confluence between structured and more masculine pieces and feminine ones. Just take a look at the boxy jackets and pleated skirts we've seen in February on the runways of New York and Paris.

Grunge was also a major influence on Zara's design team, as it was for Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent Paris. Think romantic, floral, ankle-length dresses topped by English schoolboy coats.

Plaid is a major storyline for this fall (British Vogue even dedicated its cover and huge editorial to the trend), so obviously Zara made sure you have a variety of choices. The standouts for me were voluminous jackets with a "blown up" black and red plaid print
